Digital Nomad’s Guide to Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv beachfront and coastline showing buildings in background.

Tel Aviv is one of my favourite cities on Earth. It’s Israel’s high-speed, high-tech, secular cultural capital. It’s also extremely vegan and nomad-friendly.

This guide will, however, be largely focused around the Florentin neighbourhood (the ‘Brooklyn of Tel Aviv’), as it is, in my opinion, the best part of the city.

Coffee Shops

Kiosko (קיוסקו)

HaRav Yizkhak Yedidya Frenkel 31

Kiosko isn’t just a cafe, it’s a community. But it is also a cafe with solid coffee, phenomenal seating, great music, and friendly staff. My top choice for starting each day in Tel Aviv.

p.o.c. cafe

48 Kfar Gilaadi, Tel Aviv-Yafo

Possibly the most hip cafe in Tel Aviv, and a hotspot for laptop work. There’s a small coworking table, but it’s usually full. Still, everyone finds a place to set up.

Ada Lewinsky Cafe

Zevulun St 9, Tel Aviv-Yafo, 6652409

A cool cafe with a bit of a Japanese vibe, plenty of seating, and nice layout.

Hip cafe interior with tables, people, japanese aesthetic.

Restaurants

Neroli

Lilienblum St 3, Tel Aviv-Yafo

Neroli is a health food store and raw vegan “diner”, with lots of really fresh and interesting plates, smoothies, juices, etc. Definitely on the hippie, DIY side. Great for a healthy, low-key lunch.

Restaurant counter with tons of colourful chalk on blackboard food descriptions all over.

Cafe Kaymak

Levinski St 49, Tel Aviv-Yafo

Excellent outdoor café with fresh food, a menu that changes daily, and a bangin’ playlist. The food is not 100% vegan, but it is very veg-friendly.

Bustling scene with many people sitting and standing outside a cafe in Tel Aviv.

Meshek Barzilay

Ahad Ha'Am St 6, Tel Aviv-Yafo

High-quality vegan restaurant in the stylish Neve Tzedek neighborhood. Great date spot.

Parks and Recreation

Gordon Beach

Tel Aviv has tons of great beaches along its coast, and it doesn’t make a huge difference which one you visit if you’re just looking to relax, get some sun, and swim.

Beach with water, sand, colorful tents on structures, some people in the water and shore.

Teder

Romano, Derech Jaffa 9, Tel Aviv-Yafo

A beer garden with bars, pizza, a record shop, and some other hidden places (the building gets kind of weird once you start going up stairs). It’s also the broadcasting spot of online radio station Teder.fm.

Outdoor area with hanging plants, people sitting at tables, all in nighttime setting with hanging lights.

Tel Aviv Museum of Art

The Golda Meir Cultural and Art Center, Sderot Sha'ul HaMelech 27, Tel Aviv-Yafo

A large, wonderful museum with numerous exhibits of Israeli and non-Israeli art.

Drugs and Alcohol

Alcohol: Legal drinking age in Israel is 18.

Cannabis: Recreational cannabis use is illegal, though generally tolerated in places like Tel Aviv. Legalization efforts are ongoing, albeit sidetracked due to war.

Psychedelics: Possession and/or sale of the usual suspects appears to be illegal.
